Nature Education along the Yellowstone River in Billings, Montana
The Montana Audubon Center lies in the heart of the 72,000 square mile Yellowstone River Basin and within minutes of the urban center of Billings.
We provide place-based conservation education about birds, other wildlife, and natural ecosystems to more than 20,000 visitors annually.
Based at the Norm Schoenthal Field Lab and in partnership with the Yellowstone River Parks Association, we work with students of all ages- from our Fledglings Nature Preschool and school field trips to summer camps and programs for families and adults.
One of the first nature preschools in Montana, and the first in the Billings area, Fledglings Nature Preschool is founded on the idea that kids learn best through play and hands-on experiences.
Grade-specific and standards-aligned, ANTS is an interdisciplinary science and Indian Education for All program, combining content and pedagogical approach in a way that is responsive to land and culture.
Support Place-based Nature Education in Billings
The Center’s serene grounds, learning center, and easily-accessible trail network is just ten minutes from downtown Billings.
Your support enables us to maintain our facility, provide environmental education programs for more than 20,000 children and adults annually, and continue the restoration work on our 54-acre site.
In this season of thanks, we want to acknowledge a special group of volunteers at the Center: our summer camp volunteers. Many were once campers themselves, a fact that deeply enriches their commitment.
On January 24, Montana Audubon Center Director Emily Chilcoat and Conservation Science Coordinator Danella Stapley joined host Mike Penfold to talk about the Montana Audubon Center on Our Montana, a program on Community 7 Television, Billings’ local access channel.
